Abingdon Market Celebrates BBQ Week
May 21, 2010
Abingdon Market celebrated National BBQ week last week with a special BBQ cookery demonstration from Dushan Salwathura, the chef and owner from the Broad Face pub and restaurant in Abingdon. Dushan and his staff cooked a range of tasty local produce from Dews Meadow and other stallholders at the market. Music was provided by the talented singer and guitarist, Kai Jansen, who performed a medley of songs old and new throughout the morning. Free disposable BBQs were given away on the day to all customers who spent £15 or more at the market.
This event was being held to celebrate National BBQ Week which runs from 31st May to 6th June. This year the event has been renamed National "Braai" Week to coincide with the build-up to the FIFA World Cup in South Africa (Braai is the Afrikaans word for BBQ).
