Cross Lanes Fruit Farm
We are a family run fruit farm growing over seventy varieties of top fruit. All fruit is ripened on the trees, naturally grown, to maximise flavour. Watch out for the start of the season in mid/late August running through to mid January.
We specialise in growing traditional old English apples that burst with flavour. Over fifty varieties all different – sweet, sharp, juicy, crisp, nutty, rich, aromatic, complex and delicious. You can never get tired of apples with such a selection. Every market has a different selection and you can always taste them first too. Quite different to supermarket apples!
There is a choice of large, small and medium sized fruits and even a choice between top quality and ‘specks’- the not quite perfect ones – which can save you money.
We also grow nine varieties of pear. These are left to ripen as much as possible on the trees and so different varieties become available from August to December. They are sold nearly ready to eat so they are sure to be sweet and juicy.
In August and the first half of September we have delicious plums – Victoria then Ponds Seedling and Marjorie Seedlings. Some damsons and quince are grown too.
Throughout the season we press our own apple juice. This is pressed freshly for each market and is not treated at all. Juice that tastes of fresh apple! The juice will be from different varieties as the apples ripen through the season.
