Crudges Cheese
Crudges cheese is the only Oxfordshire cheese producer and they source the milk from a Jersey herd at Gt. Rollright (Oxon) to turn into semi-hard cheeses, namely Kingham Green which is an individual cheese with a buttery flavour, Haddon Gold which is a larger cutting cheese and has a softer texture and creamy flavour, and Revolution, a washed-rind cheese with a pungent flavour.
Crudges Cheese won a Silver Medal for Kingham Green in the hard cheese section of the British Cheese Awards for 2010.
Crudges source goat milk from just outside Abingdon to make Aveton, a semi-hard cheese with a delicate goat flavour which won a gold medal at The Taste of the West and British Cheese Awards. The ewe's milk is sourced from just outside Stratford and turned into Sarsden, a firm cheese with a subtle flavour and winner of a bronze medal at the World Cheese Awards. Halloumi is a new addition to this range and is usually made on the Wednesday/Thursday to be sold that weekend.
